Below are details of the virtual programme that we are hoping to offer to current Head Teachers and Principals during 2024/2025.

We have now returned to offering face-to-face leadership development for Head Teachers within MATs, Teaching Hubs, Teaching Alliances or Families of Schools.  Please contact us for an initial consultation.

How Head Teachers move schools towards outstanding...and keep them there.

OVERVIEW

This programme offers Head Teachers/Principals a space to engage in total quality leadership thinking and learning. Participants will be introduced to a range of modern leadership practices that are essential in today's educational climate.

Objectives:

  • To improve pupil outcomes by increasing leadership capital

  • To develop, establish and embed a professional learning programme for Head Teachers and Principals within schools

  • To create time and space for Head Teachers to connect, collaborate and communicate in a psychologically safe environment

  • To increase professional awareness and understanding of organisational success and the sustainable leadership competencies needed to lead a school in an ever-changing and complex world.

SUMMARY

Over six modules, participants will explore techniques required to lead highly successful school teams, adding value and purpose to any organisation, through effective leadership strategies and processes for highly-effective decision-making.
The programme will inquire into how a Head Teacher or Principal can maximise their influence using practical strategies and frameworks and gain a deeper understanding of their leadership qualities, aligning these with the organisation’s core purpose and goals.

THE PROGRAMME

This programme has been designed around three key dimensions and 6 virtual modules:

Key Dimension One - Purpose

Module 1 - AWARENESS

Developing an increased awareness around the key influences on whole school effectiveness

Module 2 - REALITY 

How do we measure up against the key guiding principles for high-performance?

Issues explored include:

  • The relationship between effective Headship and organisational leadership capital

  • Defining high performance Headship in the context of a modern school

  • The impact of Head Teachers on the performance of other leaders

  • Outlining the key principles for future success within any school

  • Identify common barriers to increasing a school's capacity for improvement

Key Dimension Two - Influence

Module 3 - COHESION

What does the evidence really tell us with regard to the key principles for total quality success?

Module 4 - COMPETENCE 

Going deeper with total quality leadership and continuous school improvement

Issues explored include: 

  • How do we define success?

  • What got us to here will not get us to there...changes that must be addressed

  • Identifying systems and processes that shape success

  • Effective professional thinking and the development of an effective strategy

  • Critical analysis to identify future needs for total success

Key Dimension Three - Attention

Module 5 - FOCUS

Ensuring real impact through carefully designed systems and processes
Module 6 - INTENT 

Being intentional in a design for an authentic learning community

Issues explored include:

  • How Head Teachers work towards embedding key principles for total success throughout a school.

  • Professional efficacy and sustainability - What does this look like in your school?

  • Two types of purpose - Aligning a school to both

  • Communicating and articulating a new vision for continuous improvement

  • Exploring the relationship between the Head Teacher and all other staff and how this acts as a key factor in professional engagement
